I preached a sermon last night on Psalm 90 - a meditation from Moses on the anger of God and brevity of life. Many of you will know that my mother-in-law is facing death prematurely from cancer. It was a sombre thing to preach on the theme of death while watching loved ones live in its shadow.
The Psalm contains the famous and powerful plea: 'Teach us O Lord to number our days aright.'
Obviously, listening to a sermon online is not the same as hearing it as part of a church family. So many little things happen as part of the living Word proclaimed in a real church. People find that the passage selected speaks to their experiences of bereavement that very day. God gives hope and we humbly recentre our visions on Him.
